A special election for Illinois' 2nd congressional district was held on April 9, 2013, to fill a seat in the United States House of Representatives for Illinois's 2nd congressional district, after Representative Jesse Jackson, Jr. resigned on November 21, 2012. The special election was required to be held within 115 days of Jackson's resignation.
